Coronation Stagecoach Run - 1st & 2nd June 2013
To mark the 60th Anniversary of Her Majesty’s Coronation, the “Charles Martell” road coach ran from Gloucester to Hereford over 2 days, the 2nd June being 60 years to the day since the Coronation in 1953. Two teams of 4 horses, a grey team and a black team relayed all the way carrying a complement of 18 passengers between stops. The coach, driven by Adrian Lander of Rushmere Carriages arrived at the Green Dragon, Hereford 1 minute ahead of schedule! The event raised over £5000 for two local charities and seemed to give a great deal of pleasure to the crowds lining parts of the route.
Money raised from the run was split between Great Oaks Dean Forest Hospice and St Michaels Hospice, Bartestree.
The coach was graced with the presence of local dignitaries: Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for Gloucestershire, Dame Janet Trotter, The High Sheriff of Gloucestershire and Mrs Tollemache, and the Sheriff of Gloucester Mr Said Hansdot and Khadija Hansdot.
