World Cheese Awards

29th October 2016

This November I will be dragging myself away from the farm here in Gloucestershire, to spend a weekend away in sunny (actually we are told it's the 'wet season' now) San Sebastian. It will be a bit of a busman's holiday as I'll be judging at the World Cheese Awards, which I was kindly invited to by The Guild of Fine Food.

San Sebastian - the current European City of Culture - will play host to the World Cheese Awards on the 16th and 17th November. Debuting in 1987, the World Cheese Awards has grown to become the largest cheese Awards competition in the world, with around 3,000 entrants from 25 countries. The Awards form part of a wider International Cheese Festival.

I'm delighted to be joining an international judging panel of 250 passionate cheese lovers, including food commentators, producers, retailers, buyers and many more. The winners will be decided on by the rind and body of the cheese, the colour, its texture, consistency and of course, the taste.

The number of entrants will encompass six continents and applicants will be able to scoop the prizes in front of both recognised experts and consumers alike.
